Durham County voters cast 112,311 in-person ballots during early voting for the Nov. 3 election. That is 41% more than in the whole of early voting for the 2022 midterm.

Updated Nov. 2: early voting ended Saturday, Oct. 31. This story now has the final in-person and mail totals, the full 17 days by site and party, and the comparison with 2022.

With mail ballots added, 115,690 Durham County voters have already voted. That is about 46% of the county’s registered voters, before a single Election Day polling place opens.

The figures come from the N.C. State Board of Elections absentee and early voting file, updated Sunday, Nov. 1, with ballots through Saturday, Oct. 31. Bull City Now counted accepted ballots from Durham County voters. The state revises the file as ballots are processed, so a few daily counts differ by a handful from our earlier update.
