Easter is March 28, 2027. Durham's 2026 egg hunts: Spring Egg Dive, free hunts at Campus Hills Park and West Point on the Eno. 2027 dates are not out yet.

Last checked Oct. 12, 2026. This page is updated each year at the same address. Easter is Sunday, March 28, 2027. None of the 2027 events below had been announced when we checked; the dates shown are from 2026, and we will replace them as the organizers post the new ones. We never guess a date.

Durham’s Easter weekend centers on the city parks department’s free egg hunts, an egg dive in an indoor pool and services at Duke Chapel and in Duke Gardens. In 2027 Easter falls right after Durham Public Schools’ spring break, so many families will be home that week; see our spring break page.

Easter services

Duke Chapel holds Holy Week and Easter services every year. In 2026 its Easter morning included a sunrise service on the South Lawn of Sarah P. Duke Gardens, with chairs set out and parking in the H Lot at Anderson and Lewis streets; the chapel told worshippers to bring flashlights for the walk in the dark (2026 sunrise service page). The 11 a.m. Easter Sunday service in the chapel was streamed on YouTube, with free parking in the Bryan Center Garage, 125 Science Dr., and security screening at the door (2026 Easter worship page).

Look for the 2027 Holy Week schedule on the chapel’s website in March.

Easter brunch

Restaurants post Easter menus a few weeks before the day. We list them only from the restaurant’s own website; until then, our brunch guide has the regular weekend brunch spots.
