7 bakeries inside Durham city limits, from downtown's Parrish Street and Chapel Hill Street to Ninth Street, West Main, Hope Valley Road and U.S. 15-501.
Last checked Oct. 12, 2026. Refreshed every three months.
Durham’s bakeries are mostly downtown (Parrish Street and East Chapel Hill Street) and on the west side near Duke: Ninth Street, West Main Street by Brightleaf, and Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard (U.S. 15-501). One more is in south Durham on Hope Valley Road.
How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Durham’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 12, 2026. Whisk & Batter Bakery, at the old Smallcakes address, is listed under its own name. National chains (Krispy Kreme, Dunkin’, Duck Donuts, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Insomnia Cookies, Panera) are left out. Ashleigh Bakes Daily and JP’s Pastry do not post a Durham address on their sites, and Panaderia La Loma has no website of its own, so they are not listed. For ice cream and sweets, see our ice cream and desserts list. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. Run one of these places?
